Industry Associations Help MassMutual Stay Connected

MassMutual is a member of a variety of industry and community organizations that help us keep a finger on the pulse of our customers' needs and an eye on emerging trends in various markets. Below are just three of the many prominent industry organizations that MassMutual partners with to connect with clients and to help each organization further their mission.

    SCORE®

Recognizing that small businesses are a vital part of a healthy economy, MassMutual is a national corporate sponsor of SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide.

Since 1964, SCORE volunteers have provided mentoring and training support to more than 9 million entrepreneurs and small business owners. More than 13,000 volunteers provide mentoring and workshops to local business communities. SCORE has been recognized for the work of its volunteer mentors by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the USA Freedom Corps and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

    ALPFA

As the U.S. economic recovery gains momentum, the ever-expanding Latino population is poised to play a key role in the country’s future. ALPFA, the largest Latino association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for Latinos and building leadership skills, wants to help the more than 50 million Latinos in the U.S. prepare for that role. ALPFA has joined forces with MassMutual to boost awareness of the need for financial education and the available tools to help plan their financial futures.

ALPFA and MassMutual are working together to help the ever-expanding number of Latino small business owners and families make good financial decisions for a more secure future. The two organizations have taken to the road to raise awareness of the need for financial education and future planning, hosting informational events and panel discussions in several locations across the country.

National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)

MassMutual works hard to improve Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender inclusion for our employees and customers. We are a corporate partner with the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) to help advance the economic equality of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people, better understand the impact that economics could have on the equality movement and help boost economic growth in six key metropolitan areas across the country.

The cornerstone of MassMutual’s work with NGLCC kicked off in 2014 with local hands-on NGLCC Road Shows to help small businesses in key cities across the country gain certification as LGBT-Business Enterprises — making them eligible to meet federal supplier diversity mandates — and to provide financial education to business owners to help them put essential plans in place to keep their businesses viable over the long-term.

“As an early and outspoken supporter of equality for LGBT people, MassMutual recognizes that these communities are a vibrant, essential part of the small business engine that makes the U.S. economy run,” said Mike Fanning, executive vice president at MassMutual, “and they deserve a place at the equality table.”
