Melissa is a Special Care Planner with the Minneapolis Financial Group, a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual). She joined the firm in December of 2008 to add special needs planning to the firm’s portfolio of advisory services. In addition to meeting privately with families, she conducts workshops for organizations on the importance of financial planning for people with disabilities and their families. Recognizing the challenges that face families is the start to putting together a plan of action. What happens when my child turns eighteen? What is a Letter of Intent? These are some of the important questions that are answered for you.
Developing a team approach to special needs planning is important to Melissa. She works with attorneys and tax advisors to help create practical solutions for her clientele. She enjoys mentoring and supporting other advisors to learn this valuable type of planning.
Melissa attended the University of Minnesota. She has recently earned the Special Care Planner certificate from The American College, exclusive to MassMutual’s SpecialCare(sm) program. She holds her FINRA Series 7 (General Securities License), FINRA Series 6 (Investment Company Product/Variable Contract Limited Representative), FINRA Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent Law Exam), and is a Registered Representative of MML Investors Services, LLC. She is a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors).
Prior to becoming a financial advisor in 1996, she was involved in the banking industry in Florida as well as Minnesota. She has been a consistent member of the Million Dollar Round Table for the past 9 years. She has been a leading advisor for the last 13 years since earning the Yearling Award in 1997.
