    About Joseph


    Twenty years in quality control and process engineering was a good proving ground for the position Joe holds today. “The economic downturn in 2007 and the demise of my career in precision manufacturing was a turning point for me in that it forced me to discover my true passion,” added Joe in describing his metamorphosis from engineering for financial services. Today, he partners with another MassMutual Rochester financial services professional, Mark Blakeney. Working as a team, they work closely with professional service business owners like doctors to help them understand the myriad of financial solutions available today.


    Joe’s strength is helping professionals understand their insurance and financial needs. “I take my job seriously because I was on the other side of the table in 2007 and got poor advice,” explained Joe. “I came to appreciate the value of good advice. No two situations are the same. I am a good listener. I never approach a client with the intent to sell a product.”

    What distinguishes Joe from other financial services professionals is that he understands what it’s like to be disadvantaged from a knowledge or information standpoint. “The success of any good financial services professional is measured by the ability of the advisor to relate to the client with humility. Demonstrating authenticity and an understanding of the value of relationship is key.” For Joe, working with professionals comes naturally and he takes great pride in his ability to put clients at ease and inspire confidence.

    Joe, in conjunction with Mark Blakeney, works heavily with physicians and other professionals whose business is a service. “We understand professional service providers and the pressures they face. Rare is the doctor that has the time to become adept at the financial side of his life. Our job, working as a team, is to make sure we understand the client’s goals and help make sure that all the trusted advisors on the team are talking to each other and acting in the client’s best interest.”

    An ideal client for Joe is a professional or professional service business owner. “The common denominator is always the same—a commitment to taking financial planning seriously and to their future well being and the well being of those they love.”

    Personal and Professional Affiliations

    In his spare time, Joe enjoys golfing, biking on the Canal with his wife, Gwen, as well as walking their two dogs. Professionally speaking, Joe is a member of American Association of Long Term Care Insurance, Rochester Business Alliance, Small Business Council of Rochester and Independent Insurance Agents of Monroe County.
