A member of the HighPointe SpecialCare Planning team, I am a lawyer by training, an advocate at heart. A mother of three children with special needs and medical challenges, I am sensitive to the complexities parents and caregivers face when looking after an individual with special needs or an aging loved one. I have fourteen years' experience in the nonprofit sector reducing employment barriers for adults with disabiilties, so I understand the unique service provider struggle of continually striving for improved outcomes with decreasing means to do so.
In my time away from HighPointe, I am an active member of the local Turner Syndrome Support Society of Kansas City, a member of the Family Advisory Board at Children's Mercy Hospital of Kansas City, a representative on the Special Needs Advisory Council for the Blue Valley School District, a Special Needs Ministry leader at my church, and an advocate for The Rare KC Project. I enjoy helping caregivers of the aging and individuals with special needs navigate resources to assist them in their journeys.
I love to cook because I love to eat - a self-made foodie. I also enjoy swimming and frequently can be found swimming with a local masters swim team. I am conversationally fluent in Japanese and can hold my own in Spanish as well. I enjoy all kinds of music and dancing, especially salsa, merengue, and swing.
