Scott Warshaw took a unique path to a career in financial services. He began his career as a CPA with Coopers and Lybrand, but found that something was missing. “When I worked as an accountant, I found that most of my work was reactive, rather than focusing on the future. Accountants are trained to make the best of things that have passed. Planners, I learned, focus on the future.”
With that in mind, Scott moved to The Vanguard Group as a Relationship Manager, eventually earning a Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS). While at Vanguard, he helped companies and their employees maximize the value and usage of the employer’s retirement plan.
In 2005, Scott created a personal financial advisory practice within First Financial Group, a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), which allows him the freedom to act in his clients’ best interest, regardless of product or program. His clients run the gamut of wealth, age, and profession-but they all have one thing in common: they value a very personal relationship with a professional advisor. “Everything starts with a conversation,” notes Scott. “The more conversations I have, the more I learn about a person, and vice versa. When it’s a good match, we both know it. Financial decisions are highly personal, and only work when you achieve a customized fit for your particular needs.” Scott leverages his experience and knowledge to help his clients identify tax saving strategies for both businesses and individuals.
Scott, his wife, Jennifer, and their dog, Lucky, live in the Naval Square community of Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Tulane University and along with his MSFS degree from Saint Joseph’s University, he continued to further his education by obtaining he Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations. In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, cooking and exercising, and well knows the ecstasy (occasional) and agony (frequent) of being an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams.
