SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov 20, 2018 – Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), announced Jesús Montano, Chief Information Security Officer, has been named to the Hispanic Information Technology Executive Council (HITEC) Top 100 list of the most influential and notable Hispanic professionals in the technology industry.
The HITEC Top 100 list is a compilation of the top Hispanic Professionals in the Technology Industry from across the United States and celebrates their leadership and achievements in all sectors of the industry. Honorees are evaluated on their accomplishments in the ever-changing global landscape of technology and for their mentoring and professional development activities. Individuals included on the list were selected by the HITEC Board of Directors in collaboration with the 2018 Nominations Committee. Nominations are solicited from HITEC members and the general public.
"The purpose of the HITEC 100 program is to celebrate success and highlight outstanding professionals who have excelled in the innovative use of technology to create a better world. HITEC 100 Award recipients are role models that inspire young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and are committed to building the pipeline of the next generation technology leaders that happened to be Hispanic/Latinos," said HITEC Chairman, Alberto Yépez.
"We are impressed with and proud of the HITEC 100 2019 honorees. We congratulate and salute them for their continued career achievements in the ever-changing global landscape of technology." said HITEC President, Omar Duque.
“Being secure is not difficult if you lock all the doors and windows and limit what people can do; however, maintaining security while enabling new desirable business capabilities and customer needs is much more difficult,” said Montano. “This perspective and approach comes from a lifelong challenge of trying to ‘fit in,’ starting when I came to the United States many years ago – not knowing the language, trying to understand the cultural differences between Cuba and the U.S., and having to get used to learning and adapting to my surroundings.
“This unique perspective serves me very well today and enables me to be comfortable being uncomfortable – which is a great asset especially in my role protecting people from the challenging threats of Cyber,” Montano added.
For more than a decade, HITEC has honored Hispanic professionals on the Top 100 list as part of the organization’s mission to increase Hispanic representation and build stronger technology and executive leaders in the diversity-challenged technology industry. This mission aligns with MassMutual’s employee value proposition and belief that diversity strengthens business performance and is an integral part of the company's history, culture and identity. By valuing diverse leadership within the organization, MassMutual is better able to fulfill its purpose of helping people secure their future and protect the ones they love.
Jesús should be extremely proud of the contributions he’s already made to MassMutual in his short time with us, as well as the three decades of demonstrated experience, expertise and deep business insight in the extremely important technology and cyber security discipline,” said Mark Roellig, MassMutual’s Chief Technology and Administrative Officer. “But equally important is his steadfast commitment to fostering a diverse environment, continually nurturing personal enrichment, and promoting professional development and career advancement of Latinos and Hispanics at MassMutual. We're honored to have a member of our leadership team recognized on the HITEC Top 100 list.”
The honorees on the HITEC Top 100 list will be recognized during the HITEC 100 & Corporate Awards Gala the conclusion of Day-1 of HITEC's Executive Leadership Summit on November 8, 2018. The gala will be held at the Fairmont San Jose Hotel in Silicon Valley, California.
