Also named 2016 Insurance Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Diversity
Springfield, Mass., December 7, 2016 –The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) announced this week that Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) scored 100 percent on its Corporate Equality Index (CEI), earning a place on the CEI 2017 Best Places to Work List for the eighth time in the last decade.
HRC, the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, annually surveys corporations that opt in using the CEI, its national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT employees.
The CEI process evaluates companies based on equal employment opportunity, LGBT-friendly benefits, employee support, public engagement and responsible citizenship and assigns a rating to each. Results are compiled across all participating companies and published annually, indicating the strides that corporate America has made in providing workplace equality to all employees.
Additionally, MassMutual has been honored with the 2016 Insurance Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Diversity. This award recognizes an insurance company that has shown a commitment to both supplier diversity and governing board diversity within its business operations and outreach activities. MassMutual is being recognized for its successful and innovative approaches to developing and increasing procurement opportunities for diverse suppliers, encouraging and establishing diversity amongst its governing board members, and being an active participant in events and meetings of the Insurance Diversity Initiative.
