MassMutual Recognized By CIO As One Of The CIO 100 Award Winners

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., June 1, 2016—IDG's CIO is recognizing Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) as a recipient of the 2016 CIO 100. The 29th annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).

"Delivering innovation and business value are top priorities for CIOs everywhere, and our CIO 100 awards program celebrates the leading IT organizations that excel at both," said Maryfran Johnson, Editor in Chief of CIO Events. "Our 2016 winners are raising the bar even higher this year with their outstanding work in digital transformation, customer focus and IT-business collaboration."

MassMutual was recognized by CIO for the development and implementation of its Electronic Sales Platform (ESP). Introduced as a concept in 2013, ESP is far more than simply a collection of software tools. Rather, ESP is a comprehensive program integrating advanced applications, data and analytics, planning and sales tools, collaboration, and business automation – all enabling agents to identify, attract and win new business, and better serve the needs of their current policyowners and customers.

“ESP is a reimagining of our entire sales experience,” said Bob Casale, Chief Information Officer and Head of Information Technology, MassMutual. “It isn’t often that we get the opportunity, in this industry, to reinvent what it means to do business. The success of ESP is a testament to the terrific collaboration across our field force and home office to bring to life our intuitive, easy and flexible digital sales experience.”
Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at The CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Tuesday evening, August 16th, at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

    About the CIO 100
Recipients of this year's CIO 100 Award were selected through a three-step process. First, companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviewed the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' evaluations and selected the final 100.
