    MassMutual Adds Three Managing Directors to Support Sales of Defined Contribution Plans in the Government Market

    New sales reps step up support for the government marketplace

    (Enfield, CT) – MassMutual’s Retirement Services has added three Managing Directors (MDs) to support sales of defined contribution retirement plans in the government market.

    The additional MDs will help MassMutual step up its support of retirement plans sold to government entities, including states, counties and municipalities, according to Scott Buffington, Vice President of Sales for Retirement Services. The new hires raise the total number of regional sales representatives to 83, including the institutional market, which includes government entities and the emerging market, typically companies with less than $15 million in retirement assets.

    “MassMutual has the resources and capabilities to increase its share of the government retirement plan marketplace as government employers look for providers that can make a difference in how well their employees are prepared for retirement,” Buffington said. “We are committed to helping government employees prepare to retire on their terms.”

    The MDs train and educate advisors about MassMutual’s retirement plan products and services, identify retirement plan prospects, make the case for MassMutual and its products, and service existing plans. The three MDs report to Bill Abramowicz, Divisional Vice President:

    Kelly Bush supports the Western Region, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Mr. Bush transitioned to MassMutual’s government plans unit after serving the firm’s corporate retirement plan sponsors. Before joining MassMutual, he worked for Nationwide Retirement Services, ICMA-RC and was self-employed as a registered investment advisor. Mr. Bush has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami, a MBA and a MSL from Nova Southeastern University, FINRA Series 7, 26 and 63 licenses, and life, health and accident insurance licenses.

    Pete Ganey provides support for the Eastern Region, including Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Northern Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. He has 20 years of experience working with government retirement plans, most recently as business development manager for Great West. Mr. Ganey has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut and has FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.

    Richard Snyder supports the Central Region, including Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Southern Florida, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Mr. Snyder has 20 years of experience working with government retirement plans. He comes to MassMutual from Lincoln Financial Group but spent most of his career with The Hartford in sales and relationship management roles. At the start of his career, Mr. Snyder worked for the State of Florida, helping manage its 457 deferred compensation plan. He has a Bachelor of Science from Central Florida University, FINRA Series 6, 26 and 63 licenses, and life and variable annuity insurance licenses.
