The new members of the Emerald Financial team will be working with South Asian clients, developing the combination of products and services that best meet their individual needs. The addition of the team marks the first time MassMutual has had a South Asian-only sales unit in the heart of this community. We look forward to providing keen insight and strategic guidance to those whom we will serve.”
A recent MassMutual 2013 State of the American Family Study echoed the strong tendency of the South Asian community to put family first, with South Asian respondents sharing that their top two financial priorities are saving for children’s college education and keeping the family financially shielded:
• Sixty-seven percent of South Asians said they think about what is best for the family when making financial decisions.
• Three quarters of South Asians indicated they believe that it is important to educate their children about finances to ensure a strong economy in the future.
• Seventy percent noted it is important not to burden their own children with the cost of caring for them when they get older.
“We share the same values and concerns of our community,” added Deepak Malhotra, one of the managers on the Emerald Financial South Asian team. “We understand the importance of protecting our families and providing a college education for our children to this community and can help our neighbors prioritize these goals in their future plans.”
