(Springfield, MA) – MassMutual’s Retirement Services Division is sponsoring a live webcast for retirement plan professionals and plan sponsors entitled “Five Pieces You May Be Missing in the 457(b) Plan Puzzle” on Tuesday, July 30 at 12 p.m. ET. The live one-hour webcast will be moderated by Charles Ruffel, founder and director of PlanSponsor magazine, and presented by MassMutual Retirement Services Division’s Eric H. Wietsma, FSA, MAAA, senior vice president, and Carl Steinhilber, CFS, national government practice leader.
During the webcast, presenters will share findings of recent research conducted by PlanSponsor and sponsored by MassMutual specific to governmental 457(b) retirement plans. Topics to be covered will include:
- The successful interplay between a traditional pension plan and a 457(b) plan
- Trends in effective plan design and investment selection
- Key similarities and differences between governmental 457(b) plans and their industry counterparts
- Employee education strategies that participants want and need to retire successfully
- The critical role that plan advisors play in helping governmental employers meet their obligations
The presentation will conclude with a live Q&A session. There is no fee to attend but advance registration is required. Financial professionals and plan sponsors may register online.
“MassMutual is looking forward to sharing insights from this research that are important to financial professionals and plan sponsors in the governmental 457(b) retirement plan market,” says Wietsma. “457(b) plans face unique challenges and our goal is to demonstrate how these plans can supplement traditional plans so governmental employees can retire on their own terms with sufficient replacement income,” adds Wietsma.
