Employee Benefits: Disability Income Insurance
You understand the importance of providing a comprehensive benefit package to your employees. Often times, however, those benefits need to be supplemented to ensure your employees are adequately protected in the event of a long term disability.
|
What is it?
An individual disability income insurance policy replaces a portion of income should an employee become too sick or hurt to work. The policy can be offered to employees on either a fully underwritten or guaranteed standard issue basis.
How is it used?
For many companies, the long term disability coverage provided to employees through a group benefit package will often provide (after taxes) only about half of an employee's regular net income. Individual disability income insurance is used to supplement group disability coverage currently available to employees.
What are the benefits?
For business organizations and partnerships, supplemental disability income insurance is an effective way to help recruit, retain and reward the most qualified and highly skilled employees.
What are the different types of disability income insurance that can help you provide valuable benefits to your employees?
-
Individual, Fully Underwritten
Supplements employer-provided disability income group benefits.
-
Worksite Disability Income Insurance
Offered to employees on a voluntary basis or as a company-paid benefit.
