Breast Cancer Awareness: MassMutual Supports the Cause
For years, MassMutual has had an unwavering commitment to breast cancer awareness and education. In fact, since 2005, the company has contributed more than $500,000 to cancer-related organizations across the country.
And, thanks to the continuous evaluation of underwriting guidelines, MassMutual has been able to provide life insurance protection to eligible breast cancer survivors, and their families, for more than 45 years. Some MassMutual life insurance policies, like whole life insurance, can also provide "living benefits" for you and your family.*
This year, our continued support of breast cancer awareness is highlighted by our sponsorship of several organizations:
- CEOs Against Cancer: MassMutual’s CEO, Roger Crandall, is a member of American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer. He is part of an elite team of chief executives who not only support the American Cancer Society mission, but also work to develop diverse, cancer-fighting solutions.
- Team Survivor and the Trek Women Triathlon Series: The 2010 Trek Women Triathlon Series is a combined swim, bike and run/walk race for women that takes place at several locations, nationwide. At each of the races, MassMutual hosts a breakfast for members of Team Survivor to share their stories and meet other survivors. Team Survivor’s programs are open to women in all stages of treatment, recovery, and survivorship to provide free support for cancer survivors as they reach for fitness goals. Physical activity feeds the body, mind, and soul, and Team Survivor provides women with exercise opportunities and education to “thrive” while they “survive.”
- Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer: Founded in 1998 after losing a dear friend to breast cancer, the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer has raised more than $10 million throughout the years in an effort to search for a cure. Through various fundraising activities throughout the years, they have raised more than $10 million in an effort to search for a cure. MassMutual has allied with Vera Bradley by powering their ambassador, Heidi Floyd, across the nation to share her story of survivorship and to speak about MassMutual’s commitment to providing insurance to eligible breast cancer survivors.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, MassMutual makes donations to local American Cancer Society chapters or related organizations across the country for every MassMutual Pearls of Wisdom® or A Woman’s Guide to Investing** seminar hosted. In 2009, the seminars conducted by our Financial Professionals in their local communities across the nation provided more than 1,800 women, their families and friends with access to a wide range of information on financial strategies. This produced more than $100,000 in donations for research and detection and treatment programs for those battling breast cancer.
