MassMutual
disability income insurance: Radius®

Are you looking for top-of-the-line coverage that is flexible and can be customized to the individual? Consider Radius®. It provides a benefit when you are totally disabled and cannot perform the main duties of your occupation due to an injury or sickness, and you are not working in any other occupation. The insured must be under a doctor's care. But the benefits don't stop there - a permanent 10 percent spousal discount may be available and you can purchase riders and options to customize your coverage to your specific needs. Riders and options providing additional coverage are available at an extra cost. A program is also available to provide coverage that exceeds the traditional limits for high-income earners.
The Extended Partial Rider helps with a partial benefit if, because of your disability, you are only able to work part time; or, if you are returning to work full time and still have an income loss of at least 20 percent. The Extended Partial Rider can help cover the proportional difference in income.
Looking for coverage that keeps pace with inflation? Consider the Cost Of Living Adjustment Rider. After 12 months of disability, your benefits will be increased and will increase every year you are disabled. This helps protect your lifestyle when it is most vulnerable to inflation.
Want the security of increasing future benefits without medical underwriting? You might consider the Future Insurability Option, which allows you to increase your policy benefits without medical evidence of insurability.
Already part of a company-sponsored group long term disability (LTD) plan? Review the benefits you're eligible for - often employees who are highly and variably compensated are inadequately covered. Purchase our individual disability income insurance policy, Radius. This may not only provide a benefit should you become totally disabled, but may also provide added partial benefits (available at an additional cost) enhancing your overall disability income insurance protection. And, your policy is completely portable and non-cancelable.

Actively planning for retirement? RetireGuard® can be purchased as a stand-alone policy or rider to protect your ability to make retirement contributions. Both your employer's and your contributions can be covered, and benefits are paid into a trust. They are distributed at age 65 or 67 (if available) to help supplement your retirement.

Radius policy [Policy Form XL-IS-92 and XL-IS-92(NC) in North Carolina] and RetireGuard policy [Policy Form XL-IS-92 with EDI-10 and XL-IS-92(NC) with EDI-10 in North Carolina] are issued by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield MA 01111-0001 and have exclusions and limitations. For costs and complete details of coverage call your agent or MassMutual at 1-800-272-2216 for a referral to an agent.

RetireGuard can be issued to participants of defined contribution plans on a stand alone basis or as a rider on a disability income contract (Radius) for an additional cost. RetireGuard is not a retirement or pension plan or a substitute for such a program. Benefits are paid directly in to a trust, not into an employer sponsored retirement plan. Trust assets may be tax deferred depending on the investment option(s) you choose. Trust services are provided by The MassMutual Trust Company, FSB.

DI policies provide disability income insurance only. They do NOT provide basic hospital, basic medical or major medical insurance as defined by the New York State Insurance Department. The expected benefit ratio for a Radius policy is 50.2 percent and the expected benefit ratio for a Retireguard policy is 50.2 percent. These ratios are the portion of future premiums which the company expects to return as benefits, when averaged over all the people with these policies.
