MassMutual
across the country: women’s advisory boards
null
Girls register to attend the “Discover the Real World!” program sponsored by the WAB in Peoria, Ill.
With the support and assistance of MassMutual's corporate offices, a number of our agencies across the country have developed Women's Advisory Boards (WABs) in their communities. The WABs combine the talents of outstanding women in local communities with the resources of MassMutual agencies and corporate executives.

A primary goal of the WABs is to facilitate and advocate financial education among women and girls. To that end, a variety of local events are organized and supported by the WABs, including financial seminars, charitable fundraisers, luncheons, speaking engagements and support groups.

For more information on Women's Advisory Board activities in your area, e-mail Diana Ruddick.
commitment in action
null MassMutual Representative Susan Rees
of MassMutual's Central Illinois Agency in Peoria, Ill.

Susan Rees was instrumental in organizing a daylong experiential program for girls on career and financial planning in Peoria, Illinois. With the University of Illinois Extension providing the curriculum and meeting place, Ms. Rees' Central Illinois Agency rounded up volunteers and corporate sponsors to donate funds and in-kind contributions. While the event was originally planned for 100 girls, an overwhelming response produced 140 attendees from schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the community.

One mother told Ms. Rees, "God bless all of you for doing this. It's too bad that Peoria can't have more functions like this, especially when the kids have a day off from school. It's so hard when you're a single parent. My daughter said she had fun and learned a lot. I hope you'll do this again!"
