Community Responsibility

Our charitable donations and programs are intended to make a difference in our communities. MassMutual's LifeBridgeSM Free Life Insurance Program benefits eligible parents and guardians. Our education programs provide scholarships to deserving students and many of our Financial Professionals across the country are deeply involved in their local communities.

We seek to provide our employees and agents with the opportunity to engage with their communities through philanthropic programs that address important societal issues.

Free Life Insurance - LifeBridgeSM
Our innovative LifeBridgeSM Free Life Insurance Program provides free $50,000 term life insurance policies for eligible parents or guardians. We pay the premiums, and our agents drive the program in their communities. If an insured parent or guardian dies during the 10-year term, the $50,000 benefit funds a trust1 serviced by our trust company to pay for eligible dependent children's educational expenses.

Women's Advisory Boards
In an effort to increase financial education among women and girls, MassMutual and select MassMutual agencies have developed Women’s Advisory Boards.  The Boards combine the talents of outstanding professional women in local communities with the resources of MassMutual agencies and corporate executives to host and sponsor local events, financial seminars, charitable fundraisers, luncheons, speaking engagements and support groups.

Fighting Breast Cancer
We hold a special seminar series in October in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The seminars, hosted by Financial Professionals in their local communities across 25 states, provided more than 1,500 women, their families and friends with access to a wide range of content and produced more than $62,000 in donations for research and detection and treatment programs for those battling breast cancer in 2007. The innovative program kicks off on Mother's Day with our sponsorship of the 2008 Danskin Women's Triathlon SeriesTM, a combined swim, bike and run/walk race for women that donates 10 percent of all entry fees to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In 2007, we presented financial awareness seminars to participants at all race locations, donating $1,000 to the Foundation for each seminar presented, for a total of $9,000.

Community Service Awards
MassMutual recognizes the exceptional community service efforts of our general agents, eligible agents and agency employees by providing $10,000 grants to qualified, non-profit agencies that they volunteer with through the Community Service Awards Program. The selection process is based on the applicant's eligibility, their commitment to the non-profit organization, degree of hands on involvement and the impact of their volunteer efforts.

Matching Gift Program
We help to recognize and encourage the generosity of our eligible employees, agents, and company directors by matching their charitable contributions to qualified non-profit organizations.

Corporate Angel Network
In an effort to share our resources with those in need, we joined forces with the Corporate Angel Network – a non-profit organization that helps arrange free transportation for cancer patients. Under the Corporate Angel Network program, companies help ease both the cost and physical and emotional stress of travel for cancer patients by arranging free flights to optimal treatment centers. With our participation in the network, patients may use empty seats on the company's aircraft flying on routine business.
